Multi-tasking is the ability of an operating system to run multiple applications simultaneously in memory, switching between them quickly to give the appearance of concurrent execution. It is not about using multiple processors (option A, which is multi-processing), repeating tasks (option B), or one application for multiple users (option C, which is multi-user). Modern computers use time-slicing to achieve multi-tasking on single or multiple cores.
