The Thompson and Thomson detectives appear on only two Tintin adventure covers: 'Land of Black Gold' and 'Explorers on the Moon'. They are prominently featured on the moon adventure's cover in spacesuits. Tintin and the Picaros, The Calculus Affair, and Prisoners of the Sun do not feature the detectives on their covers.

Flight 714 is the only Tintin adventure where Tintin is shown holding a weapon (a gun) on the cover. All other 23 covers show Tintin unarmed, consistent with his generally nonviolent approach to problem-solving. The image depicts Tintin aiming the gun during a tense moment on the island.

In Tintin and the Picaros, Nestor is shown at Marlinspike Hall secretly drinking whisky while hiding and eavesdropping on Tintin and Haddock's conversation. This is a rare moment showing the normally proper butler in an uncharacteristic light, adding humor to his otherwise dignified role.

General Alcazar makes his first appearance in The Broken Ear (1937), where Tintin meets him in San Theodoros during the revolution. Alcazar returns in later adventures including The Seven Crystal Balls and Tintin and the Picaros, but his origin is The Broken Ear, which also features the Arumbaya fetish storyline.

The beard-changing pills that Thompson and Thomson accidentally take in The Land of Black Gold cause a relapse in Explorers on the Moon. This creates a comic situation where their rapidly changing beard colors interfere with their moon mission, adding visual humor to the otherwise serious space adventure.

Professor Calculus is loosely based on Auguste Piccard, the Swiss physicist known for his balloon flights and bathyscaphe dives. Both characters are eccentric scientists with wild white hair, round glasses, and pioneering spirit in exploration - Piccard in real life, Calculus in the comics.

Professor Calculus is the only regular Tintin character shown displaying romantic attraction to women, specifically to Bianca Castafiore in The Castafiore Emerald. He becomes flustered and attempts to propose to her, while characters like Haddock and Tintin show no romantic interests throughout the series.

Destination Moon's cover depicts the largest group - Tintin, Haddock, Calculus, the Thompson twins, and several ground crew personnel at the rocket launch site. While The Castafiore Emerald shows many characters, they're smaller in the frame. The question requires visually comparing covers to count identifiable figures.

The Seven Crystal Balls cover features only the title text and no foreign writing. By contrast, Land of Black Gold (Arabic), The Blue Lotus (Chinese), and Cigars of the Pharaoh (Egyptian hieroglyphics/arabic) all prominently feature non-English/non-French writing on their covers as part of the exotic settings.
