The term zero waste was first used in the name of a company, Zero Waste Systems Inc (ZWS), which was founded by a PhD chemist, Paul Palmer in mid 1970s in Oakland, California.

Cholera is caused by the bacteria which uses water as a vector known as Vibrio cholera. Typhoid is caused by bacteria called Salmonella Typhi. Bacterial dysentery is caused by infection with bacteria from Shigella, Campylobacter, Salmonella, or enterohemorrhagic E. coli. Diarrhea from Shigella is also known as shigellosis.

Radioactive waste is a waste that contains radioactive materials. It is usually a by-product of nuclear power generation and other applications of nuclear fission or nuclear technology, such as research and medicine. These waste should be disposed into containers lined with yellow bags and labeled radioactive waste.

Kala-azar known as Black Fever is caused by sandfly bites which exhibits the symptoms of fever, weight loss, enlargement of liver and spleen. If it is not treated at the early stage it proves to be the fatal which could take life of the infected person.

Diseases that are caused due to drinking of contaminated water are called waterborne disease. It is caused due to the presence of certain pathogens in water such as protozoan. Diarrhea is the most common waterborne disease that occurs in children. Dehydration, pale skin, loose motions, bloody stools, etc are the symptoms of diarrhea. Amoebiasis is a parasitic infection of intestines, the symptoms of which are diarrhea, fatigue, abdominal discomfort and flatulence, etc

Zero waste is a philosophy that encourages the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are reuse. Implementing zero waste will eliminate all discharge to land, water or air that are a threat to planetary, human, animal or plant health.

Housefly feed on waste, excreta, and garbage which contains the infectious disease-causing germs. Houseflies became the carrier of these pathogens and they get entered in our body through the food we eat or water we drink since houseflies feed and sit on eatable items.

Open waste on land and water bodies is the root of infection and habitat for diseases. The waste that remains open and untreated on land and in water bodies pollute the very sources whereby living beings sustain, the pollutants emitting out of such waste is released in the air, pollute soil which grows crops, make the environment filthy and water undrinkable which when consumed leads to the diseases on a large scale.

The term pollute means to degrade. It means to contaminate water, air, land, and soil with harmful substances. The substances that adversely affect our nature and deteriorate the natural balance of the Earth.
