The INA inspired uprising in the armed forces of the country. The Indian Naval rating in Mumbai rose in revolt in February 1946, similar uprising took place at Kolkata, Chennai and Karachi. These naval revolts shook the foundation of the British Empire.

At the Tripuri session of the Congress in 1939, Subhash Chandra Bose was standing for re-election as President of the Congress for second term. Gandhiji was  not in favour to make Subhash Chandra Bose as President. But in election Bose won by majority of votes and became President of Indian National Congress.

In 1939 Congress session was held in Tripuri. Tripuri is a small village in Madhya Predesh. In this session of Congress, Subhash Chandra Bose elected for the Presidentship of Indian National Congress.

Travelling through Peshawar and Russia, Subhash Chandra Bose reached Berlin. The Indian Community in Germany welcomed him as leader-Netaji; and greeted him with 'Jai Hind'. He frequently urged his countrymen on the radio to rise in arms against the British. He also founded Free India centers in Rome and Paris.

The radicals within the Indian National Congress were represented by: Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose.

The Indian Independence League was a political organisation started by Rash Behari Bose which operated from the 1920s to the 1940s. It was set up to organize those living outside of India into seeking the removal of British colonial rule over India. After the arrival of Subhas Chandra Bose in South East Asia and the revival of the INA, the League came under his leadership.

The Indian National Army (INA) was originally founded by Capt Mohan Singh in Singapore in September 1942 with Japan's Indian Prisoners of war.  It was formed with Japanese aid and support after the Fall of Singapore. The INA's first commitment was in the Japanese push towards Eastern Indian frontiers of Manipur.
