Robert Clive is widely recognized for his role in the Battle of Plassey (1757), which established the East India Company's political and military dominance in Bengal. Other options like Dalhousie and Churchill are associated with much later periods or different contexts.

The British victory under Robert Clive at Plassey in Bengal was a crucial event in the history of India. It was a decisive victory of the British East India Company over the Nawab of Bengal and his French allies on 23 June 1757.  The British after the victory acquired significant concessions for previous losses and revenue from trade which was later used for the expansion of the British empire. The battle bought a major change to the company's trade structure as it opened gates for personal fortunes.

In 1757, after the Battle of Plassey, Nawab Mir Jafar conferred the 24 Paraganas of Bengal to the British and also the Jangli mahals (small administrative units), as a result he was propped up as the Puppet Nawab.

The battle between Siraj ud-Daulah, the last independent Nawab of Bengal and the East India Company happened during the year 1757 and it was known as Battle of Plassey.

The Governor General at the time of the Second Anglo-Sikh war was Lord Dalhousie. During the Second Anglo-Sikh War in 1848, Lord Dalhousie attacked the Sikhs who lost heavily and had to surrender in March 1849. Punjab was annexed to the British territory and became known as the North-West Frontier province of India.

First Anglo-Sikh war was fought between the years 1845 – 1846. The war was fought between Sikh Empire and East India Company. This war was fought in Punjab. The outcome of the war was the treaty of Lahore. This was treaty was signed on 9 March after the defeat of Sikhs at the Battle of Sobraon. As part of the treaty, the Sikhs agreed to hand over Kashmir, Hazara and Jalandhar Doab to the British. This treaty also resulted in falling of Kohinoor diamond into the hands of British. 

First Anglo-Sikh war was fought between the years 1845 – 1846. The war was fought between Sikh Empire and East India Company. Lord Harding was the Governor General during the First Anglo-Sikh War. 

First Anglo-Sikh war was fought between the years 1845 and 1846. It resulted in the partial subjugation of the Sikh kingdom. During this period, Lal Singh was the prime minister and Tej Singh became the commander of the army. 

Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire who ruled the north-west Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century. He was proclaimed as the "Maharaja of Punjab" at age 21.
