Shifting of residential place from one place to another is called Migration. A migrant means one who has shifted from his birth place and settled in another place. There are many reasons for migration. Of the people who have migrated from one place to another,approximately 50%  do it for the purpose of marriage. 

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is an intergovernmental organization. It was initially established in 1951 as the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration (ICEM) to help resettle people displaced by World War II. The IOM is not part of the UN, nor is it a 'sister agency'. It is a completely separate entity, although the IOM often works in partnership with UN Agencies on specific projects. IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.

Here, no one is forced to migrate but due to some push factors such as war, hunger and other difficult conditions, people decide to leave.

Sikkim is the least populated state in India. It has a population of just about 0.5 million.

This happens when the government or authorities of a place force people to migrate for a reason. It refers to the movements of refugees and internally displaced people (those displaced by conflicts) as well as people displaced by natural or environmental disasters, chemical or nuclear disasters, famine, or development projects.

Human migration is the movement by people from one place to another with the intentions of settling, permanently in the new location. The movement is often over long distances and from one country to another, but internal migration is also possible; indeed, this is the dominant form globally.

Migration is due to the consequences faced by people of the country, making them settle in other country. These migrants become reason for political disturbances in the country they settle, because nativists of the country usually do not accept the migrants. 

Shifting from one city to other is called migration. Normally people migrate for education, earning. In some cases people transferred from one city to other from there office it is also comes under migration. 

Normally no one prefer to migrate from their home town to new city. But for good living standards, for good education purpose or for employment they migrate to another city.
