In 1984 Los Angeles Olympics P. T. Usha was about to get the Bronze medal but missed it with 1/100 second. This followed after one of her competitors had a false start, which was said to have broken P. T. Usha rhythm. She got off the blocks a bit slower at the restart.

Milkha Singh is an Indian former track and field sprinter.  He was born on November 20, 1929, at Govindpura, Pakistan. He is also known as the Flying Sikh. He was the first athlete to be awarded Padma Shri.

P. T. Usha is a retired Indian track and field athlete. She is nicknamed as Payyoli Express or Payali Express. She is often called the "queen of Indian tracks and field". Currently, she runs the schools of Athletics at Koyilandy near Kozhikode in Kerala.

Milkha Singh won a gold medal in the 440m competition at the Commonwealth Games with a time of 46.6 seconds in the year 1958. This achievement made him the first gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games from independent India.

Gatka is seen in Nagar Kirtans or in some functions. It was also used for self defence. It is a form of martial art. In the beginning wooden rod and a shield are used to attack or protect oneself from the attack. Some universities have included Gatka in the curriculum and also give training in this martial art. Gatka is also included in the National level school games. In the ancient Indian war skills, many skills similar to Gatka were prevalent. Gatka is performed in Punjab, Thang Ta in Manipur and Kalaripayattu in Kerala.

In many sports grounds a layer of plastic grass is laid which is called as Astroturf. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. The main reason is maintenance artificial turf stands up to heavy use, such as in sports, and requires no irrigation or trimming. It is used in sports like football, hockey, baseball, etc.
