The choroid plexus and ependymal cells line the ventricles of the brain and are responsible for producing and secreting cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

The total volume of cerebrospinal fluid in an adult human is typically around 120-150 ml. 200 ml is often cited in some textbooks as the upper limit or approximate value.

The pH of cerebrospinal fluid is slightly alkaline, typically ranging between 7.30 and 7.40, with 7.33 being a commonly cited value.
