The first successful animal clone was Dolly sheep on 5$^{th}$July 1996. It was born as a resultant of three mother one provided the egg, another the DNA, and a third carried the cloned embryo. The used for the production of Dolly is somatic cell nuclear transfer, where the cell nucleus from an adult cell is transferred into an unfertilized oocyte whose nucleus has been removed by the process of irradiation.
