Lok Adalats offer a legal but alternative way of settling disputes. There are no lawyers or court fee involved in this kind of settlement of disputes. The main condition is that both parties in dispute should agree to settlement through Lok Adalat. Lok Adalats were started in 1985.

The Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 provides legal aid to people with the annual income less than rupees one lakh per annum. It also provides legal help to senior citizens with the annual income less than rupees two lakh per annum.

Lok Adalat literally means people’s court. Lok Adalat is a special type of court in which disputes are settled by the mutual consent. Disputes are solved by direct talks between litigants. Main condition of the Lok Adalat is that both parties in dispute should agree for settlement. It is a court designed to shorten the time taken for settling disputes.

Pallavi Durua, who belongs to Odisha’s Koraput district, has been crowned as the India’s first “Tribal Queen” at the Adi Rani Kalinga Tribal Queen competition held at Utkal Mandap on June 26, 2018. Panchami Majhi of Titlagarh and Rashmirekha Hansdah of Mayurbhanj were declared as the first and second runners-up of the beauty pageant respectively. The trio will now feature in a short movie on tribal culture, to be produced by a Mumbai-based producer. Besides that, special awards were also given in seven different categories including tribal attire, photogenic face, best skin, best personality, the best presentation of ornaments, the best presentation of own culture and best in talent. The jury included a pool of guests from national and state-level, headed by Padma Shri Tulasi Munda, who is also the ambassador of the event. The prime objective of the event was to promote tribal art and culture.

Public Interest Litigation is litigation for the protection of the public interest. A PIL can be filed in any High Court or directly in the Supreme Court. It is not necessary that the petitioner has suffered same injury of his own or has had personal grievance to litigate. Public Interest Litigation applies to any case of public injury arising from:-

• The violation of a constitutional provision
• The violation of the law
• The breach of any public duty

In olden days children used to play outdoor games. But now children almost have forgotten the outdoor games. Advanced technology and modern culture made them attached to televisions, video games, laptops and mobile phone. Now children entertain themselves by playing games on a laptop or watching cartoons or movies on television.

In the context of typical literature or textbook narratives, older relatives like grandfathers represent the older generation.

Advanced technology has reduced the need for manpower not only in homes but in factories, companies, schools, and institutions too. The machines, robots, and software are replacing people now. People themselves become so dependent on machines that they don't want to do any work on their own.

In olden days, demands were less. People were simple and sober. Needs were also less. People used to live in joint families with harmony and mutual love and trust. The technology was also not that advanced. People were not that modern as they are now.

Earlier people used to live in joint families. There they used to live with paternal and maternal parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, niece, brothers, sisters, mother, and father. Earlier the families were big. They used to live under one roof and the food was also jointly cooked by the females of that family.
