Sivakasi is a city and municipality in Virudhunagar District in Tamil Nadu.

Trade decides the economic growth of a country as it increases the income of a country and provide occupation to a large population.

Uzhavar Sandhai scheme was initiated for direct selling of fruits and vegetables at a fair price by the farmers to the consumers without any intermediaries. The first Uzhavar Sandhai was started at Madurai in 1999.

As Tamil Nadu has well developed roadways and railways, domestic trade is efficiently handled among the districts of Tamil Nadu. For marketing the commodities, there are several market committees. At present there are about 303 APMCs in the state.

At present, there are around 303 Agriculture Produce Marketing Centres (APMCs) distributed all over Tamil Nadu. The APMC is further classified into Primary and Secondary marketing centres and non-regulated marketing centres.
