India is passing through the phase of  Population Explosion.Population explosion can be defined as a process of large increase in population. In India, poplulation increased at a drastic rate.

As per latest report of UNDP of 2017, India's HDI ranking is 131 out of 188 countries. HDI stands for Human Development Index. It can be defined as a statistic composite index of human development indicators, like, life expectancy, education, per capita income, etc. HDI helps to rank countries.

In an under-developed economy, Health and Education standards are low. In underdeveloped countries, quality of the population is not given stressed on and as a result, health and education standards of the population is quite low.Underdeveloped countries can be referred to those countries which are backward economically. Overpopulation, income inequalities and under-employment- all prevails in the underdeveloped economy.

Human Development Index is a measure of human development over the years which includes per capita income for evaluating the utility which people get from different products, life expectancy which measures the progress made in health and nutrition and educational levels.

The Human Development Index is a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education and per capita income indicators. It is used by the Human Development Report Office of the United Nations Development Programme. HDI was developed in the year 1990 by Pakistani economist Mahbub UI Haq,  with the help from Gustav Ranis of Yale University and  Meghnad Desai of the London School of Economics.
