A kaleidoscope is made of 2 or more mirrors set at certain angles to each other. The minimum number of mirrors used is 2. Generally, the number of mirrors used is 3.

A kaleidoscope works on the principle of multiple reflections. In order to make the reflections occur, light enters a kaleidoscope through a hole. In a dark room, no light is present. So, no light will enter the kaleidoscope and no reflections will be seen. So, a kaleidoscope will not work in a dark room.

The pattern depends upon the positioning of the object and the mirrors. So, the pattern will not change. But, as the tube is filled with thick black smoke, no light will come out to the eye piece. So, the pattern will not be observable.

Colorful pattern created due to reflection caused by the mirrors which are placed at 60 degrees in Kaleidoscope.

When kaleidoscope tube is rotated then it forms different varying patterns and colours.

Kaleidoscope can be either of 2 or 3 mirrors. 3 mirrors yield to a pattern which fills entire field.

Sir David Brewster invented Kaleidoscope.

All 3 mirrors are placed at 60 degree angle to have a different colourful pattern  inside the Kaleidoscope.
