Mountain soil is found in the hilly and mountainous areas of the Himalayas, including its foothills. This soil is formed by the accumulation of organic matter from forest growth and is rich in humus.

Black soil is widely known as black cotton soil because cotton is the primary crop grown in it. It is also known as Regur soil.

Cotton is the most important crop cultivated in black soil due to the soil's excellent moisture-retention capacity. This unique property is ideal for the growth of cotton plants.

Regur (black) soil is formed by the weathering and disintegration of basaltic volcanic rocks, particularly in the Deccan Trap region of India.
