Congo was officially named Zaire from 1971-1997 under President Mobutu Sese Seko. After his overthrow, the country reverted to the name Democratic Republic of the Congo. Zaire was the official name during that period of Africanization.

Holland is actually a region within the country of Netherlands. The country's official and internationally recognized name is the Netherlands, though 'Holland' is commonly used informally to refer to the entire country.

Mesopotamia (the land between rivers) is the historical name for the region between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The modern country that occupies most of this ancient region is Iraq.
