Traditional Test match cricket uses a red ball, which is swung and seam bowled. White balls are used in limited-overs cricket like ODIs and T20s. Black is not a color used for cricket balls. Blue balls were experimented with but are not traditional for Tests.

In the NatWest Series final at Lord's on July 13, 2002, Ashley Giles bowled Sachin Tendulkar for 25 runs. India was chasing 326 to win against England. Giles, a left-arm spinner, dismissed Tendulkar during India's chase, though India ultimately won the match by two wickets.
