Space Exploration and Astronomy

Neil Armstrong was the commander of Apollo 11 and the first human to walk on the lunar surface on July 20, 1969.

Since the launch of Sputnik 1 in 1957, thousands of satellites, probes, and crewed spacecraft have been launched into space by various nations.

Our understanding of the solar system has been built through a combination of naked-eye observation, ground-based telescopes, and modern space-based telescopes.

Compasses, telescopes, and sextants were all vital navigational or observational tools for explorers. Forceps are surgical instruments.

Mission: SPACE takes guests on a journey involving Earth, the Moon, and Mars.

Mission: Space offers two experiences: the Green team, which is less intense and does not include the centrifuge, and the Orange team, which is the full-intensity centrifuge experience.

Spaceship Earth is the iconic geodesic sphere that serves as the entrance and symbol of Epcot. It houses a dark ride that explores the history of communication.

In the context of the Artemis mission and space exploration, astronauts live and work in the Habitation Module.

The Orion Crew Survival System Suit is specifically designed for protection during the launch and re-entry phases of the Artemis missions.

A robotic arm is used to dock spacecraft at the Lunar Gateway, allowing for precise connection in orbit.

Cargo resupply missions are the standard method for delivering food, fuel, and other necessary supplies to the Lunar Gateway.

Oxygen is one of the critical life-support supplies regularly delivered to the Gateway to sustain the astronauts.

The Lunar South Pole is the target location for the Artemis mission due to the presence of water ice in permanently shadowed craters.

The long-term goal of the Artemis program is to prepare for and eventually send humans to Mars.

The Orion spacecraft is designed to carry a crew of four astronauts to the Lunar Gateway.
