In the 1980s, women's groups across the country spoke out against 'dowry deaths' - cases of young brides being murdered by their in - laws or husbands, greedy for more dowry.Women's groups spoke out against the failure to bring these cases to justice. They did so by coming on to the streets , approaching the courts, and by sharing information.

In Nepal Democracy was restored in the year 1990 by the King Birendra. In 2005 this democratic rule was dismissed by King Gyanendra. Later due to public protest, democratic government established in Nepal in 2006.

King Gyanendra, the new king of Nepal, was not prepared to accept democratic rule. He took advantage of the weakness and unpopularity of the democratically elected government. In February 2005, the king dismissed the then Prime Minister and dissolved the popularly elected Parliament.

The 1990 People's Movement (Nepali: जनआन्दोलन, romanized: Jana Andolan) was a multiparty movement in Nepal that brought an end to absolute monarchy and the beginning of constitutional democracy.

The Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu to produce newsprint and writing paper using bagasse, a sugarcane residue. The Government of Tamil Nadu listed the paper mill in April 1979 as one of the most environmentally compliant paper mills in the world under the provisions of the Companies Act of 1956. The factory is situated at Kagithapuram in the Karur District of Tamil Nadu. 

The IBEF was set up in 1996 by the ministry of commerce and industry to build the Made in India brand in the overseas market. It is working to increase the corpus available by attracting contributions from large corporate houses in the country.

Liberalization refers to end of licence, quota and many more restrictions and control that were put on many industries. The term basically refers to opening of the economy to the world and providing freedom to the departmental and public sector undertakings to access capital market in order to achieve international competitiveness. 

The process of economic liberalization was implemented in India in the year 1991 when new economic reforms were introduced in order to protect the country from high debt to world bank. 

The Indian Board of Wildlife (now the National Board for Wildlife) was established in 1952 to advise the government on wildlife conservation matters.

The year 1979-80 is widely recognized in Indian economic history as the beginning of a period characterized by significant adverse balance of payments pressures.
