Gopal Krishna Gokhale was a prominent leader of the Moderates in the Indian National Congress. B.G. Tilak was a leader of the Extremists.

The Secondary Education Commission, established in 1952, is commonly known as the Mudaliar Commission. It was chaired by A. Lakshmiswami Mudaliar and focused on reforming the secondary education system in independent India.

Dadabhai Naoroji, known as the Grand Old Man of India, was the first Indian to be elected to the British House of Commons in 1892.
