The Hanging Gardens are located in Bombay (Mumbai). The name refers to the Hanging Gardens of Mumbai, also known as Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens, located on Malabar Hill, not in Ludhiana, Dispur, or Aurangabad.

Varanasi, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, is called the 'City of Temples' because it has thousands of temples dedicated to various Hindu deities. It is a major pilgrimage center for Hindus.

In olden times Patna was known as Patliputra, and it was not the site of Indus Valley Civilization.

Harappa, the type-site of the Indus Valley Civilization (from which the civilization gets its name), is located in Punjab province of present-day Pakistan. Other sites like Kalibangan, Lothal, and Alamgirpur are in India.

South Indian temple architecture is characterized by the Gopuram - the elaborate gateway tower that dominates the temple entrance. While Vimana (the tower over sanctum) and Mandapa (pillared hall) are also present, the Gopuram is the most distinctive feature of Dravidian style, often dwarfing the main temple structure in later periods.

Jain temples are specifically called 'Derasar' (also spelled 'Derasara'). This term refers to Jain places of worship where Tirthankaras are revered. Pagodas are Buddhist/Chinese, Tempple is generic, Church is Christian - only Derasar is the correct Jain terminology.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is located on a small island off Kanyakumari coast in Tamil Nadu, where Swami Vivekananda meditated in December 1892 before attending the Parliament of Religions in Chicago. It marks the confluence of Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean.

Lumbini, located in present-day Nepal, is widely accepted as the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. This fact is confirmed by the Ashokan pillar inscription at Lumbini which explicitly mentions it as Buddha's birthplace.

Pavapuri (also known as Pawapuri) in present-day Bihar is the death place of Vardhamana Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism. This site is a major pilgrimage destination for Jains, marking where Mahavira attained Moksha (liberation).

Purushapura (modern-day Peshawar in Pakistan) was the capital of the Kushana Empire. Under rulers like Kanishka, it was a major center of trade, art, and Buddhist learning, hosting the famous Fourth Buddhist Council.

Sarnath is one of the four most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites, where Gautama Buddha taught his first sermon after attaining enlightenment (the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta or 'Setting in Motion the Wheel of Dharma'). It is located near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The other major Buddhist pilgrimage sites are Lumbini (birthplace), Bodh Gaya (enlightenment), and Kushinara (death). Sarnath has the Dhamek Stupa and the Ashoka Pillar with the lion capital.

The Palitana temples are a cluster of Jain temples located on Shatrunjaya hill in Palitana, Gujarat. They are among India's most important pilgrimage sites for Jains and were indeed nominated for the 7 Wonders of India initiative. The temples date back over 900 years and consist of over 800 temples.

Phrasal usage. 'To be famous for something' means to be renowned for something.

Humayun's Tomb is located in Delhi. It was commissioned by Humayun's first wife, Empress Bega Begum, in 1565 and was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. Agra is famous for the Taj Mahal, Lahore is in Pakistan, and Mumbai is not associated with Mughal tombs.

Sher Shah Suri's tomb is located in Sasaram, Bihar. It was built by his son Islam Shah Suri and is considered one of the finest examples of Indo-Islamic architecture. Sikandra contains Akbar's tomb, Fargana is in Uzbekistan (Sher Shah's birthplace), and Lahore is in Pakistan.
