Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, situated in the Kashmir Valley. The state also has a winter capital, Jammu, which is used during colder months when the valley experiences heavy snowfall.

Ranchi is the capital of Jharkhand, established when the state was carved out of Bihar in 2000. It's located in the Chhotanagpur Plateau region and is known for its natural resources and tribal culture.

Agartala is the capital of Tripura, located in northeastern India. It's the second-largest city in northeast India and serves as an important cultural and commercial center for the region.

Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh and known for its historical significance and cultural heritage. It served as the capital of the Awadh region and is famous for its cuisine, architecture, and crafts.

Dehradun is the capital of Uttarakhand, serving as the administrative and political center of the state since its formation in 2000. Haridwar is a major pilgrimage city, Roorkee hosts IIT Roorkee, and Nainital is a famous hill station - none are state capitals.

Chandigarh is itself a Union Territory and serves as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana. It was designed by Le Corbusier. Mohali and Panchkula are satellite cities in Punjab and Haryana respectively.

Raipur is the capital of Chhattisgarh, formed in 2000 when the state was carved out of Madhya Pradesh. Korba, Durg, and Raigarh are industrial cities but not the capital. Raipur is the administrative and commercial center.

Silvassa (spelled Silvasa in options) is the capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, a Union Territory. It's the administrative center. 'Dadra' and 'Nagar Haveli' refer to the two regions that constitute the territory, not specific cities.

Imphal is the capital city of Manipur, a state in northeast India. The other options are locations in Mizoram (Kolasib, Champhai) and Manipur (Chandel is a district, not the capital).

Chittorgarh Fort, the largest fort in India by area, is located in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was the capital of Mewar kingdom, famous for Jauhar tales of Rani Padmini.
