Rouff is a traditional folk dance form that originated in the Kashmir Valley. It is typically performed by women during festivals and celebrations, characterized by graceful movements and rhythmic footwork, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Kashmiri traditions.

Mohiniyattam is a classical dance form that originated in Kerala and is one of the eight recognized Indian classical dances. It is characterized by graceful, feminine movements and derives its name from the word "Mohini" (enchantress).

In the film 'Albela' (1951), actor Bhagwan performed the iconic 'Bhagwan Shuffle', a dance style that became hugely popular and is still remembered as a classic Bollywood dance moment. The song 'Shola Jo Bhadke' featured this distinctive dance style.

Lok Tarang is the National Folk Dance Festival organized by the Ministry of Culture from 24-29 January. 'Lok' means folk and this festival showcases traditional dances from across India during Republic Day celebrations.

Kuchipudi originated from the village Kuchelapuram (also called Kuchelapuri) in Andhra Pradesh. The dance form derives its name from its place of origin and is one of the eight classical dances of India. Kathak is from North India, Odissi from Odisha, and Manipuri from Manipur.

Luddi and Gidha (proper spelling: Bhangra and Giddha) are traditional folk dances of Punjab. Giddha is performed by women, while Bhangra is associated with the harvest festival. Goa has Fugdi and Dekhni, Gujarat has Garba and Dandiya, and Arunachal Pradesh has various tribal dances.

Dumhal is a famous folk dance of Jammu & Kashmir, traditionally performed by men wearing long colorful robes and tall conical caps. It originated in the Wattal tribe in the Kashmir region. Haryana has Ghoomar and Khoria, Chhattisgarh has Raut Nacha, and Rajasthan has Ghoomar and Kalbelia.

Garba is the famous folk dance of Gujarat, traditionally performed during the Navratri festival in honor of Goddess Durga. It involves circular formations and rhythmic clapping. Rajasthan has Ghoomar, Maharashtra has Lavani, and Punjab has Bhangra and Giddha.

Ghode Modni is a traditional folk dance from Goa performed during festivals, particularly Shigmo. It involves dancers holding wooden horses and performing rhythmic movements representing cavalry raids. The dance reflects Goa's Portuguese colonial influence and martial traditions.

Hajgiri is a traditional folk dance performed by the Reang tribe of Tripura. It involves balancing acrobatic movements and is performed during the Hojagiri festival. Arunachal Pradesh has its own distinct dances like the Ponung and Buiya, while Manipur is famous for Ras Lila and Thabal Chongba.
