The Kothari Commission (1964-1966), also known as the Education Commission, was the first to provide a comprehensive report on the entire spectrum of education in India. The Radhakrishnan Commission focused specifically on university education.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Co-operative University was proposed to be established in Pune, Maharashtra.
