Gandhinagar is the capital city of Gujarat, named after Mahatma Gandhi. It was planned and built specifically to serve as the capital, unlike Ahmedabad which is the largest city but not the capital.

Bangalore was officially renamed to Bengaluru in 2014, reflecting the Kannada pronunciation of the city's name. This change was part of a broader movement to restore indigenous names of Indian cities.

The National Law Institute University (NLIU) is located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It was established in 1997 and is one of the premier national law schools in India. NLIU Bhopal offers undergraduate and postgraduate law programs.

The 14th SAARC Summit was held in New Delhi in April 2007, with India as the host. Kathmandu (Nepal) hosted the 3rd and 11th summits, Dhaka (Bangladesh) hosted the 7th, and Colombo (Sri Lanka) hosted the 10th and 15th summits. The 2007 summit was significant for the SAARC development fund declaration.

The first conference of the Indian National Congress was held at Gokuldas Tejpal Sanskrit College in Bombay (now Mumbai) in December 1885. The college was chosen as the venue because it provided an appropriate space for the inaugural session.
