Historical Events and Dates

The World Bank Group was established in 1945 along with the International Monetary Fund at the Bretton Woods Conference. Both institutions were created to help rebuild Europe after World War II and promote global economic stability.

The Non-cooperation Movement was officially launched by the Indian National Congress in 1920 under Gandhi's leadership, following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the Rowlatt Act protests. It was a major phase in the freedom struggle.

The First Round Table Conference was held in London from November 1930 to January 1931. It was called by the British to discuss constitutional reforms for India, but the Congress boycotted it.

The Regulating Act of 1773 was the first major parliamentary intervention in the affairs of the East India Company. It established the office of Governor-General of Bengal (Warren Hastings became the first) and attempted to regulate the company's administration in India.

The Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) was established in 1982 under the Export-Import Bank of India Act. It was set up to provide financial assistance for exports and imports, and to function as the principal financial institution for coordinating working of institutions engaged in financing exports and imports.

The MRTP (Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices) Act was enacted in 1969 to prevent concentration of economic power and control monopolistic practices in India. It was later replaced by the Competition Act in 2002.

National Open School (now NIOS - National Institute of Open Schooling) was established in 1989 to provide flexible education through open and distance learning for learners who cannot attend regular schools.

The Secondary Education Commission (also known as the Mudaliar Commission) was established in 1952-53 to examine and reform secondary education in India. It made comprehensive recommendations for improving educational quality and access.

The University Education Commission was set up on 4th December 1948 under Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. It was the first commission on higher education in independent India and submitted its report in 1949. 1950, 1952, and 1954 are incorrect.

The United Nations was officially established on October 24, 1945, after World War II. This date is celebrated annually as United Nations Day. The UN Charter had been drafted earlier in 1945 and was ratified by the required number of nations.

Limitation Act, 1963 was enacted on October 5, 1963 and came into force on January 1, 1964 for the purpose of consolidating and amending the legal principles relating to limitation of suits and other legal proceedings.

The 7th edition of Colon Classification (CC) was published in 1987. This edition introduced significant updates to S.R. Ranganathan's classification system, incorporating new subjects and refinements to the notation scheme. Earlier editions were published in 1933 (1st), 1939 (2nd), 1950 (3rd), 1952 (4th), 1957 (5th), and 1963 (6th).

Colon Classification was devised by S.R. Ranganathan in 1933. This classification system uses colons to separate facets in the notation, allowing for expressive and flexible organization of knowledge. It represented a major innovation in library classification with its facet analysis approach.

Section 89 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 was inserted by CPC (Amendment) Act, 1999.
