Harry first destroyed a Horcrux in his 2nd year at Hogwarts (Chamber of Secrets) when he stabbed Tom Riddle's diary with a Basilisk fang, destroying the soul fragment within. The diary was Voldemort's first Horcrux, and Harry destroyed it without even knowing what a Horcrux was at the time.

An Animagus is a witch or wizard who can transform into an animal at will. Sirius Black could transform into a large black dog, and Rita Skeeter could become a beetle. Remus Lupin was a werewolf (not Animagus), Harry Potter couldn't transform, Lily Potter had no Animagus ability, and Albus Dumbledore was not an Animagus.

The indomitable Gaulish village where Asterix and his fellow warriors resist Roman occupation is located in Armorica, the northwestern region of Gaul (ancient France), specifically in modern-day Brittany.

Elros Tar-Minyatur, also known as Elros, was the first King of Numenor. He was the brother of Elrond but chose mortality over immortality. Elrond remained immortal, Aragorn was a distant descendant of Elros, and Elendil founded the kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor in Middle-earth much later.

Earendil (spelled Earandil in some editions) was the father of both Elrond and Elros. He was a mariner who sailed to Valinor to seek aid against Morgoth and was set in the sky as a star. Gil-galad was an Elven king, Celebrimbor forged the Rings of Power, and Thranduil was the Elvenking of Mirkwood.

Theodred was the only son of King Theoden of Rohan. He died in battle at the First Battle of the Fords of Isen. Eomer was Theoden's nephew (his sister's son), Thengel was Theoden's father, and Grima was the treacherous advisor who manipulated Theoden.

Minas Tirith was originally called Minas Anor, meaning 'Tower of the Sun.' It was built by the Numenoreans. Minas Ithil was its sister city ('Tower of the Moon') that fell to the Nazgul and became Minas Morgul. Annunimas was the capital of Arnor.

Meneldil was the first King of Gondor to rule independently after Sauron's defeat. He was the son of Anarion (Isildur's brother) and was left in charge of Gondor when Isildur returned north. Isildur was the last High King of both Gondor and Arnor, while Aragorn reunited the kingdoms thousands of years later.

Ithilien was the fair forest region in Gondor, known for its beauty. It lay between the Anduin river and the Mountains of Shadow. Fangorn was an Ent forest, the Old Forest was in the Shire, and Mirkwood was the great forest east of the Misty Mountains where Thranduil ruled.

The three Elven Rings were Vilya (held by Elrond), Nenya (held by Galadriel), and Narya (held by Gandalf). Cirdan the Shipwright originally possessed Narya but gave it to Gandalf when he arrived in Middle-earth. Legolas, Glorfindel, and Cirdan (misspelled as Ciradan) did not hold any of the Three Rings.

Ioreth was the elder woman who worked in the Houses of Healing and is mentioned as one of the head healers. She was known for her wisdom and sayings. Beregond was a guard, Denethor was the Steward, and Faramir was a patient (though he later became Steward). Note that Ioreth was more of a senior healer than the technical head.

Eomer, after seeing Arwen, considered her the fairest of all ladies in Middle-earth. This is mentioned in the book when he encounters her. Galadriel was the fairest of the Eldar, Eowyn was Eomer's sister, and Elanor was Samwise's daughter named for the star but not the one Eomer meant.

Imrahil was the Prince of Dol Amroth during the War of the Ring. He led a company of knights to Minas Tirith and fought in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. Eomer was the King of Rohan, while Faramir and Boromir were Stewards of Gondor, not princes of Dol Amroth.

Osgiliath was the original capital of Gondor, founded by the Numenoreans. It was a great city straddling the Anduin River. Minas Tirith (originally Minas Anor) became the capital after Osgiliath was devastated by wars and plague. Minas Ithil was captured by the Nazgul and renamed Minas Morgul.
