Vocabulary and Synonyms

A yardstick is literally a measuring stick, but figuratively means a standard or criterion for evaluation. "Standard" is the correct figurative meaning. "Crime" and "ethics" are unrelated.

Wobble means to move unsteadily from side to side or rock back and forth. Waver correctly captures this sense of unstable, trembling movement where something cannot remain steady.

Laid-back is an informal expression describing someone who is relaxed, calm, and not easily agitated. Calm correctly identifies this peaceful, composed state of being.

Jinx refers to a spell or charm that brings bad luck, or the act of casting such a spell. Curse correctly identifies this concept of causing misfortune or bad luck through supernatural means.

Macabre describes something disturbing and horrifying because of its involvement with death or violence. Frightful correctly captures this sense of something scary, gruesome, or death-related.

Sozzled is an informal British term meaning intoxicated or very drunk. Very drunk correctly identifies this slang expression describing someone who has consumed excessive alcohol.

Pull can mean to exert force drawing something toward oneself, or in a figurative sense, to strain or make great effort. Strain captures this secondary meaning of exertion or effort.

Criticism refers to the expression of disapproval or judgment based on perceived faults. Flak is an informal term meaning harsh criticism or strong disapproval directed at someone.

Agreement means the act or fact of agreeing i.e. giving assent.  

Good-looking describes someone who has an attractive physical appearance. Handsome is a direct synonym meaning attractive in appearance, especially for men.

Nurture means to care for and encourage the growth or development of someone or something. Foster correctly captures this sense of providing care and promoting development.

Beseech means to ask someone urgently or fervently for something. Solicit in this context means to request or seek earnestly, which aligns with the sense of urgent pleading.

Drag can mean to pull something forcefully or with difficulty. Lug means to carry or pull something heavy with great effort, which captures the sense of dragging.

Supervise means to oversee, watch over, or direct the work or activities of someone. 'Oversee' is the closest synonym among the options. 'Healthy' relates to health, not supervision.

Deep means profound when referring to knowledge, understanding, or intensity - as in 'deep understanding' or 'deep emotions'. 'Commence' means to begin, 'elusive' means hard to catch, and 'soothing' means calming.
