Peru's official currency is the Nuevo Sol (PEN), introduced in 1991 to replace the old Inti. The Real is used in Brazil, the Peso in multiple Latin American countries, and while US dollars are accepted in some places in Peru, they are not the national currency. The Nuevo Sol is subdivided into 100 céntimos.
