Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu, is named after his signature weapon - the parashu (axe). The name 'Parashurama' literally means 'Rama with the axe'. While he is a master of all weapons (he received training from Shiva), he is most famously associated with the axe, which he used to cleanse the earth of corrupt warriors multiple times.
