Sanskrit is an Indo-Aryan language and a sister or cousin to ancient European languages within the broader Indo-European language family, rather than the literal mother of all European languages. While they share a common ancestral proto-language (Proto-Indo-European), European languages like Greek, Latin, and Germanic tongues did not descend directly from Sanskrit.
