The Konark Sun Temple was built in the 13th century by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. The temple is dedicated to the Sun God and is famous for its architectural grandeur, intricate stone carvings, and the massive chariot-shaped structure with twelve pairs of elaborately carved wheels.
