Fa-hien (also spelled Faxian) was a Chinese Buddhist pilgrim who traveled to India during Chandragupta Vikramaditya's reign (c. 400 AD) to obtain Buddhist scriptures. He documented his travels and Indian society in his influential memoir. He was not the discoverer of Puerto Rico and Jamaica (that was Columbus), and he was Chinese, not Indian, visiting from China, not from India.
