The Gulf of Mannar is a shallow bay located between the southeastern tip of India (near Rameshwaram) and Sri Lanka. Rameshwaram is situated on Pamban Island and is closely associated with the Gulf of Mannar region. Thirunelveli, Chennai, and Vellore are not located near this gulf.
