The Nilgiri Hills literally mean Blue Mountains in Tamil, named for the bluish haze that the kurinji flowers (which bloom once every 12 years) create over the mountains. This range in southern India includes Ooty and Coonoor hill stations. Mount Abu is in Rajasthan, Manali is in Himachal, and Himalayas are the major mountain range.
