Thiruvananthapuram (also known as Trivandrum) is the capital of Kerala, housing the state government and legislature. Munnar, Thrissur, and Alleppey are important cities - Munnar a hill station, Thrissur a cultural hub, and Alleppey known for backwaters - but none serve as the capital.
