Who was the first person to look at space objects through a telescope?

While the telescope was invented in the Netherlands for terrestrial use, Galileo Galilei was the first person to systematically point it toward the night sky in 1609 to observe celestial bodies. Copernicus formulated the heliocentric theory before the telescope was invented, and sailors used spyglasses primarily for navigation.
