Norway is known as the 'Land of the Midnight Sun' because during summer months, parts of the country experience 24 hours of daylight. This occurs north of the Arctic Circle where the sun doesn't set for several weeks. Canada also experiences this phenomenon but Norway is more famously associated with this nickname.
