Alibabavum 40 Thirudarkalum (1955), produced and directed by T. R. Sundaram, was indeed the first Tamil color film. This fantasy-adventure film starring M. G. Ramachandran marked Tamil cinema's transition from black-and-white to color. The other films listed were all color films but came later - Kathalikka Neramillai (1964) was the first Eastman Color, while Naadodi Mannan (1958) and Ulagam Sutrum Valiban (1973) were subsequent color releases.
