Luv and Kush, the twin sons of Rama and Sita, were trained and educated by the sage Valmiki. After Sita was exiled, she took refuge in Valmiki's ashram where she gave birth to the twins. Valmiki taught them the Vedas, archery, and the story of the Ramayana, which they later recited before Rama at the ashwamedha yajna.
