Ramchandra Panduranga was the real name of Tantia Tope, one of the most prominent leaders of the 1857 Indian Rebellion against British rule. He was a close associate of Nana Saheb and a brilliant military strategist who continued guerrilla warfare against the British even after the fall of major rebel strongholds. He was eventually captured and executed in 1859.
