Panaji (also called Panjim) is the capital city of Goa, located on the banks of the Mandovi River. It became Goa's capital after liberation from Portuguese rule in 1961. Mormugao is a major port town, Velha Goa (Old Goa) is a historical site, and Talaulim is a town in Goa.
