Is there life after a foreign degree, any foreign degree? Stupid question? No. Some researchers have found that many grads are winding up in jobs previously held by diploma holders. A worrisome prospect to students and many parents who have borrowed heavily and shelled out hard-earned money to secure the vaunted economic benefits of a foreign degree-however vague. Only graduates from the Ivy league escape this fate, but then they are in the minority. One placement consultant, in fact said that he was unable to place his own niece with a “good” firm although she had an MBA degree from an institution which is ranked among the top five abroad. One of the reasons, says Rajiv Thakur, president, Graffik, a head hunting firm, is because the general perception is that only students from wealthy backgrounds who haven't got into the premier Indian institutions opt for foreign degrees.
