A Hold is a control feature in Oracle Order Management that prevents an order or order line from progressing through the order cycle. Holds can be applied for various reasons such as credit checks, shipping holds, or billing holds. Cycle Counting is an inventory process, Demand Interface manages demand data, and Pick Release is the process of releasing orders for warehouse picking.
A Hold in Oracle Order Management is exactly this: a control mechanism applied to an order or order line (credit hold, shipping hold, etc.) that blocks it from moving forward through workflow steps like booking, picking, or shipping until released. Cycle Counting is an inventory accuracy process unrelated to order progression. Demand Interface passes sales order demand into planning, it doesn't block orders. Pick Release is itself a forward-moving processing step (releasing lines to the warehouse for picking), the opposite of something that prevents progression.
