-
C. Receive Bank Statement, Load and very bank statement, Perform Reconciliation, Post to GL
-
D. Receive Bank Statement, Perform Reconciliation, Load and verify bank statement, post to GL
The bank reconciliation sequence follows logical workflow: first receive the physical/electronic statement from bank, then load and verify it into system (validation step), perform reconciliation to match transactions, and finally post to General Ledger. Loading before verification is impossible, and reconciliation requires loaded data. This sequence ensures data integrity before accounting impact.
The standard bank reconciliation flow is: receive the bank statement (get it from the bank), load and verify it into the system (via manual entry or interface, then confirm the data is correct), perform the reconciliation (match statement lines to system transactions), and finally post the reconciled transactions to the General Ledger. Any sequence that reconciles before loading/verifying the statement, or posts to GL before reconciling, would be out of order and wouldn't work in practice.
