Connectivity supported by android(depends on hardware):
-
Bluetooth
-
3G
-
WiFi(Wireless Fidelity)
-
Enhanced Data rate for GSM Evolution(EDGE)
-
Infrared
Android supports multiple connectivity options depending on hardware: Bluetooth for short-range device communication, 3G for cellular data, WiFi for wireless local area networking, and EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) as an enhanced 2.5G cellular technology. Infrared is NOT supported - it's an older line-of-sight technology not part of the Android connectivity stack.
Android's connectivity stack, depending on the specific hardware included in a device, has historically supported Bluetooth, cellular data protocols including 3G and EDGE, and WiFi — all standard radios found across the majority of Android phones. Infrared (IR blaster) support was present only in a minority of specific Android models (mostly for remote-control use) and was never a core, broadly 'depends on hardware' Android connectivity feature in the same standardized way as the others, which is why it's excluded here while the other four are included.
