Maloji Bhonsale was Shahaji Maharaj's father and a prominent Maratha general serving the Ahmadnagar Sultanate. Shahaji later became the father of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Shahaji Bhonsale, the father of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was himself the son of Maloji Bhonsale, a Maratha noble and military commander who served the Nizamshahi sultanate and was posthumously honored with the title 'Raja' by his descendants' rise to power. Sambhaji and Shivaji Bhonsale are, respectively, Shahaji's son (and Shivaji's half-brother) and Shahaji's more famous son — both are Shahaji's descendants, not his father, and Venkoji (Vyankoji) was also Shahaji's son, ruling Thanjavur — so only Maloji fits as the father.
