The Pillars of Hercules are the ancient name for the promontories that flank the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar. The northern pillar is the Rock of Gibraltar (a British Overseas Territory), while the southern pillar is either Mount Hacho or Jebel Moussa in Morocco. Rome and Greece are unrelated to this geographical landmark.
