Fibonacci introduced “Fibonacci numbers” in 1202. But which Indian mathematician was already using the series by 300 BCE?

Pingala, an ancient Indian scholar (c. 300 BCE), described the Fibonacci sequence in his work Chandaḥśāstra while studying poetic meter in Sanskrit. He used it to enumerate possible combinations of long and short syllables. Fibonacci introduced this to Europe in 1202 CE, but Pingala had documented it over 1,400 years earlier.
