The International Red Cross was founded by Henry Dunant (J. H. Durant) after witnessing the horrors of the Battle of Solferino in 1859. His efforts led to the Geneva Convention and the establishment of the Red Cross movement, which provides humanitarian aid worldwide. Baden Powell founded the Scouting movement, while Trygve Lie was the first UN Secretary-General.
