Sambhaji Bhosale, Shivaji's eldest son, succeeded him as the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire in 1680. The succession was initially contested due to court politics, but Sambhaji ultimately claimed the throne after his father's death. Vyankoji was Shivaji's half-brother (not successor), and Niroji Gaikwad appears to be a fabricated name. Sambhaji ruled until 1689, continuing expansion of the Maratha state and resistance against the Mughals.
